I have a variety of MicroSD Cards, ranging from 1TB down to 2GB. They are typically for my Cameras and for data transfers that need to be done between host computers. In total I have roughly 9TB of MicroSD Cards
Obviously, continuing to find media that I am interested in is a main purpose of my downloading adventures. I once had 191TB, then 165TB, and finally 335TB (all drives were wiped and sold in between each of these hoards) of data, and those collections meant very little to me, as they were not curated, but existed in the realm of, your scientists were so pre-occupied with whether they could, that they forgot to ask whether they should. I obviously seek to not repeat those experiences, which I why I curate my library of media now. I might have a lot of data, but I assure you everything is something I am interested in (potentially if part of a collection, this might have some junk data mixed in as well). After all, 4K and 8K video (especially with respect to VR videos) take up a good chunk of digital real-estate (I average between 20 and 50GB per VR video), so this does inflate the numbers a bit.
I have recently considered erasing my 4TB m.2 and turning that into LLM (Large Language Model) drive. This would however mean that I no longer have any backups for my books (scanned or otherwise), which is something I am concerned about, since many of those books can't be re-scanned or re-downloaded.
I am still debating whether or not to keep the two 500GB internal hard drives. They are of lower capacity, and take up a bit of space, much like the 240GB internal SSD. Still, I have not been convinced that the benefits of getting rid of them outweigh the fact that I would be destroying them, as they previously held family photos and videos, which I do not want a buyer to be able to recover (I do like to be at least somewhat private).
The question of backups is one that does weigh on my mind, and while I have multiple (11 to be exact) backups of my family photos/videos (though this is changing due to a rapid increase in size taken up by my Girlhood series), the only other backups I have are of my books, mainly because I scanned quite a few, and no longer have the print copies of those I have scanned. Backups are tricky though, since they cost time and money to create, and they take away from total potential capacity. Also, a lot of my data is admittedly replaceable, except for perhaps some stuff from YouTube that no longer is on that platform, my HypnoTube Archive, and now dead torrents of adult content (both VR and non-VR).
I have been looking into "SpaceDrive", which claims to be "a file manager from the future". It seems to be promising for indexing all my drives/data, and keeping that info/search-ability, even when the drive is not plugged in. I am still researching this file manager, but remain slightly skeptical, as I do not fully understand how it's supposed "AI" search function works. If it sends data back to some HQ, then I will have to keep looking for a different file manager that allows for offline drive searching/indexing. One thing that draws me to SpaceDrive is it's drive/data totals information, which tells you exactly how much data you have, across all drives.
